Irish Youth Hockey League November President’s Letter

Welcome IYHL families to another exciting season for our league.  We have over 490 kids registered to play on our 36 house league teams, our 12U all girls team called the Shamrocks, and our 6 Irish Rover travel teams.  I want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding during our house evaluations last week.  It is an exciting time as we start our season, but also a lot of work for the IYHL Board and outside evaluators.

The season will get started a little sooner than in the past with games and pictures.  The first games and pictures are NOVEMBER 4TH AND 5TH.  The coaches will get a picture schedule, and teams will have their pictures taken either before or after their first games this weekend. 

We have all 36 house league teams sponsored this year.  THANK YOU to all our sponsors, we really appreciate your support.  Their logos will be on our website so look to see who they are and please   support our sponsors.  Jerseys and socks will be handed out this week at practices or possibly before pictures on Saturday or Sunday.

Irish Select tryouts will be November 19th and we are finalizing the locations and times.

We will also be looking for coaches so if you want to possibly coach a select team send me an email with what age group you would like to coach.  Look for the online registration for tryouts to open this week.

Last year we had some parking issues at the Compton when there were Notre Dame basketball games.  This year we will be handing our IYHL parking tags to hang on your review mirror. There will be one per family and the coaches will hand them out on picture day.  These tags will allow you to pull up to the Compton and drop off your player.  We still aren’t sure if they will save us parking spots near Compton during the basketball games.  These tags are not good for any other parking times or dates.

We are also updating the IYHL trophy case to display trophies for our house, select, girls and Rover teams. 

The new IYHL online apparel store with open this week. It will open November 1 and close November 10th.  We will then reopen it at a later point in the season to take orders again. We will send out a link to the store and it will be on the IYHL website so you can order online this year.

Finally, a big thanks to all our coaches this year.  We could not run the league without you stepping up and helping.  We will be running American Development Model practices for all our teams this year.  He is a link to read more about it.  www.admkids.com  There is a USA Hockey coaching clinic November 12th at Notre Dame.  If you need to get a certain level please register at USA Hockey.
