RE: Parking at Compton Family Ice Arena during basketball games

Dear IYHL Families,

Mike McNeill and I had a meeting on Tuesday November 28, 2017 with the head of parking at the University of Notre Dame.  It was a very productive meeting and both organizations want to work together so that parking during these events is as smooth as possible.  While we are moving in the right direction and the IYHL hang tags are a step forward there are still some issues to clarify.

First and foremost, have your tag hanging from your rear view mirror to identify you as an IYHL family.  If you don’t have it put down your window and politely let the ND parking staff know you need to get to the Compton to drop off your hockey player.  They will save around 50 spaces for IYHL families in the lot closest to Compton

The lot in front of the Compton will be the last lot to be filled and so you should be able to find a parking spot or drop your player off at the half circle/cut out area in the front of Compton, but don’t drop your player off right in front of the Compton during these times. You should be able to enter form Leahy Dr. on the east side of Compton, or Joyce Dr. on the west side of Compton.  When the lots start getting full they will close off Leahy Dr. so you will have to go in Joyce Dr.  From there you will need to follow the parking staff instructions but if they know you need to drop off your player at Compton they should let you get to the Compton.  You will have to go past the first right and up to the second right to pull into the Compton lot to drop off your player or if there is an open spot park your car.  There is also parking in the Walsh lot which is a little northwest of the Compton but not that far to walk.

I hope this helps clarify the parking issue. Remember the ND parking staff is there to help us and they understand our concerns and are working with us on solutions.

Regards,

Brian Troester
