The IYHL offers various levels of travel teams to provide a competitive and challenging environment for youth players.

Irish Rover travel teams (AA and A levels) participate in the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL), playing against teams based in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Irish Select travel teams are part-time travel teams that provide a higher level of competition in tournament play for IYHL House/Rec league players.  These teams are chosen by tryouts and players participate in local Hockey Time Tournaments throughout the winter season (in addition to playing in the IYHL House League).

Irish Spring Tournament teams are formed by tryouts after the winter season ends to participate in a few spring tournaments (both local and regional).
